The Federal Government may have put smiles on the faces of people of Delta State following admission on Tuesday, May 25 that it has returned the £4.2m looted Ibori fund back to the state.
The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, disclosed this during an appearance in Abuja before the House of Representatives Adhoc committee on Assessment and Status of All Recovered Loot from 2000 – 2020.
It will be recalled that the United Kingdom, following negotiations, on May 10 repatriated the sum recovered from the former governor’s associates and family members to Nigeria.
On the status of the repatriated sum, Idris had clarified to the committee that funds looted from a state’s coffer’s are always returned to same.
