The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced that it will no longer collect fresh applications for issuance of passports, until the backlogs are cleared.
The embargo commences today, May 18 to May 31, it announced.
Comptroller-General of Immigration, Muhammed Babandede, disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja.
“The decision is to enable the service to clear its backlog,” he reiterated.
According to him, the NIS would resume business from June 1, when it opens its portal to collect online payment from fresh customers.
