Bulls sustain hold as investors gain N150.76bn

Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Wednesday continued on a positive note as the All-Share Index advanced by 0.74 per cent to close at 38,881.70 basis points.

The market capitalisation also rose 0.75 per cent to N20.42tn, leaving investors with a gain of N150.76bn.

The sustained bullish activity saw the domestic bourse record 20 gainers and six losers at the close of the trading session, while the year-to-date loss of the ASI moderated to -2.73 per cent.

Both middle and large capitalised stocks such as Lafarge Africa, Dangote Cement, Okomu Oil Palm, Guaranty Trust Bank and Zenith Bank enjoyed investors’ patronage, thus their respective share prices rose by 4.21 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 9.75 per cent, 1.76 per cent and 0.22 per cent.

Sectoral performance was positive as all the indices tracked closed in the green.

The banking, insurance, consumer goods, oil and gas and industrial indices rose by 1.25 per cent, 0.37 per cent, 0.28 per cent, 0.03 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively.

Trading activity was however mixed as total deals and volume of stock traded fell, while total value of stock rose.

At the close of the day’s trading session, total volume of stocks fell by 16.93 per cent to 181.52 million units, valued at N3.96bn in 3,217 deals.
