Business group explains celebration of women

Jumeirah Group, an international hospitality company and member of Dubai Holdings, has explained why it decided to celebrate women across industries

The group, on Thursday, organised a lunch tagged ‘Meeting of Minds’ to celebrate the achievements of female leaders from a in the United Arab Emirates.

In a statement made available to Financial Street, the group explained, “The event forms part of Jumeirah’s month-long campaign to celebrate female strength and resilience, encouraging people to pause, reflect and celebrate #HerMoment by sharing precious moments with the women in their lives and encouraging self-love.”

The event, which had a gathering of the country’s most aspirational women, was held in honour of the International Women’s Day marked last week.

Senior Vice President (Marketing) at Jumeirah Group, Asmaa Quorrich, said it was an honour to join the group in celebration of this year’s IWD.

“I was incredibly inspired to hear their stories and feel immensely proud to have stood alongside women who have achieved so much. As women, we are nurturing by nature, providing the people around us with the space to grow and prosper, whether personally or professionally.”

Quorrich also charged women to be real.

“If we can encourage women to be authentic, to embrace and harness this quality, and to be comfortable with their vulnerabilities, the world will be a better place.”

Business Executive Officer for Nestle Nutrition, Middle East and North Africa, Sophia Jalal, asserted that IWD “is about celebrating women’s everyday achievements and giving them the space to express themselves and deliver their best work.”

Further, co-founder of the group, Joy Ajlouny, encouraged women to be determined and to find their passion in any area of life.

She said, “To me, women empowerment is about dignity, self-determination and finding your passion. Too many women see getting married and bearing children as their accomplishments in life.

“Marriages end, children grow up and move out. Women need to have something to hold on to that they accomplished for themselves. They need to set goals and accomplish them This is what truly gives them dignity and a feeling of self-worth.”
