CBN to train 10,000 Women, youths on agribusiness

The Central Bank of Nigeria has selected over 10,200 women and youths to be trained in businesses across the agriculture value chain.

According to the apex bank, the training will be conducted under its Women and Youth Empowerment Programme.

WYEP is a part of its Agro-Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support Project.

National Communication Specialist for APPEALS, Mrs. Aishat Onusi, made this known in a statement obtained by Financial Street.

Onusi noted that about 10,200 beneficiaries had been selected in Rivers State.

The specialist added that other participating states had been executing various activities under the WYEP.

“So far, the project has trained 5, 513 women and youths in 11 agricultural value chains in five participating states of Cross River, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi and Lagos,” she said.

She further explained that the beneficiaries would receive training in the areas of production and processing, as well as on strategies to prepare a good Business Investment Plan, among others.

The project will be executed in partnership with the Corporate Affairs Commission, which will assist beneficiaries in the registration of their businesses, Financial Street gathered.

“So far, a total of 554 People with Disability and Special Needs in the five states have been identified and selected for project support under the WYEP,’’ Onusi noted.
