Customs intercepts cannabis worth N91m

Operatives of the Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service have intercepted 3,186 parcels of cannabis sativa valued at N91,488,977 conveyed in a sand tipper along Seme–Badagry road.

Public Relations Officer of the Command, Abdulahi Hussain, in a statement, explained on Thursday that the tipper was intercepted in the early hours of Tuesday based on intelligence reports.

Hussain said the vehicle, after careful examination, was found with 41 sacks (3,186 parcels) of cannabis sativa, with Duty Paid Value of N91,488,977.

According to the statement, the Customs Area Controller, Bello Jibo, commended the officers who made the discovery.

Jibo urged them to sustain the tempo with a view to fighting smuggling within nooks and crannies of the Command in whatever form.

He advised the officers to always collaborate with the host community in ensuring a harmonious relationship to achieve more results.

Calling on the general public to cooperate with the customs to implement government policies and improve the economy, Jibo charged the service to provide professional and quality service that would enhance development in the country.
