EKEDC assures customers of improved service

Eko Electricity Distribution Company has assured its customers that the newly-introduced Service Reflective Tariff was designed for their benefit, and for improved service for the sector.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications, Godwin Idemudia, disclosed this at a news briefing on Tuesday in Lagos.

The new SRT tariff regime came into effect on September 1, 2020.

Idemudia said, “We understand the economic impact of the pandemic, but there will never be a good time for the implementation of the new tariff.

“The tariff review is aimed at bringing improvement to the quality of service EKEDC provides.”

He noted that under the new tariff regime, customers were grouped into five service bands, based on the quantity and quality of power they enjoy.

His words, “Customers on Band A will receive an average of 20 hours power supply per day, Band B customers will receive a minimum of 16 hours, Band C customers will receive a minimum of 12 hours, while Bands D and E will receive a minimum of eight and four hours a day.”

The GM explained further that customers under Bands D and E were temporarily frozen, but that the existing tariff would continue until the company improved supply hours to them.

He, however, urged unmetered customers to take advantage of the Meter Asset Provider scheme and purchase meter to avoid estimated billing.
