The Federal Operations Unit, Zone B, of the Nigeria Customs Service has said that the unit collected N194,565,388.81 worth of revenue in the month of May.
This was contained in a statement made available to Financial Street by the Public Relations Officer of the unit, M.A. Gagaji, on Friday.
The unit also said much seizures were made in the same month.
Giving a breakdown, the Customs Area Controller in charge of the unit, Albashir Hamisu, said 753 bags of 50kg foreign rice, 646 cartons of spaghetti and macaroni, 355 cartons of foreign soap and 112 kegs of 25 liters of foreign vegetable oil were among items seized.
Hamisu also presented 103 parcels of Indian hemp, 15 vehicles and six motorcycles amongst the seizures.
In his message to members of the public and stakeholders, the customs official called for cooperation in exposing illegal activities, in aid of the fight against smuggling for the betterment of our country.
