The Federal Operations Unit, Zone B, of the Nigeria Customs Service said it has recorded 122 seizures of different contraband with Duty Paid Value of N165,198,544.32 in three weeks.
Public Relations Officer of the unit, Mailafiya Magaji, announced this in a statement on Friday.
He explained that the seizures were 1,711 bags of foreign rice, 591 cartons of foreign spaghetti and macaroni, 360 cartons of pharmaceutical products, 191 kegs of foreign vegetable oil, 76 bales and sacks of second hand clothing, 70 bags of foreign fertiliser, 27 vehicles as means of conveyance, amongst other items.
According to him, “These seizures by Federal Operations Unit, Zone B, at various locations within the zone, have a combined DPV of N165,198,544.32.”
He, however, pleaded with the general public to respect and comply with government’s fiscal policies, stressing that these were put in place for the growth of the economy and benefit of its citizens.
