The Lagos State Government has denied planning to deny the reformed sachet water seller, Mary Daniel, access to her N25m.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, stated this on Thursday, following reports on the social media that the state had withheld the money it promised the lady.
According to Omotoso, the state government has no plan of denying the lady her money.
He said that all the government did was to ensure that the 26-year-old amputee remained safe to do whatever she intended with the money.
While public-spirited individuals, through Go-fund-me on the social media, contributed N25m for Miss Daniel, Lagos promised her another N25m. However, there were stories on Wednesday that the state had withheld the money because the lady reportedly told lies about her background.
Assuring that the state government had handed the lady over to her Kogi community in Lagos as well as Irede Foundation to guarantee her safety, Omotoso stated that she was free to set up her dream investment in Lagos since it was in the state that fortune smiled on her.
“That is a confirmation that Lagos is a land of hope and opportunities,” the commissioner asserted.
