NIN-SIM: We register two million people monthly – NIMC boss

The Director-General, National Identity Management Commission, Prof Aziz Aliyu, has said that the commission registers at least two million Nigerians every month in the ongoing National Identity Number-Subscriber Identification Module linkage.

Aliyu said this on Monday at the batch 10 launching of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy projects for digital economy.

“We register at least two million Nigerians monthly, which is a good effort toward the digital economy agenda,’’ he said.

He disclosed that the commission has so far registered 56 million Nigerians with their NIN.

“As of today, NIMC has been able to register 56 million Nigerians with their NIN and that has been possible since Dr Isa Pantami took over as Minister of Communications and Digital Economy in October 2020,” the commission’s director-general added.

The Nigerian authority has moved  deadline for the NIN-SIM linkage for the fourth time to allow more people register, after the first deadline that ended on December 30, 2020.
