PTAD pays adjusted benefits to pensioners

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate has commenced payment of the consequential adjustment to pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme.

The PTAD made this known in a statement on Wednesday by its Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Gbenga Ajayi.

According to Ajayi, the move is in fulfilment of the promise made by PTAD’s Executive Secretary, Dr Chioma Ejikeme, following the approval of the implementation of the consequential adjustment by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said, “Ejikeme promised that the upward adjustment of pension benefits would take effect from May 2021. The Executive Secretary assured them of PTAD’s commitment to the welfare of the DBS pensioners.”

He also quoted Ejikeme as cautioning pensioners to be wary of fraudsters, stressing that no staff of the directorate would request gratification before processing their pension payment.

Ejikeme also urged pensioners to report such phone calls and other activities of the scammers to PTAD for adequate investigation and possible prosecution.

Pensioners under the Civil Service Pension Department, Parastatals Pension Department, Police Pension Department, and Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Department, which represent the operational departments of the PTAD, have reportedly been receiving their accrued arrears.
