Dangote, Glo and Nasco lead six of Nigeria’s representation in the top 100 most admired brands in Africa in the latest release by the Brand Africa rankings.
 
Other Nigerian companies in the global rankings include Jumia and Maltina.
 
Nigeria’s Dangote moved up 10 places in this year’s ranking from 25th position in 2019, leading Nigerian contingent in the rankings this year. 
 
The brand with the most valuable publicly quoted company on Nigeria’s stock market led other African brands in the consumer and non-cyclical category.
 
On the continental level, South Africa’s telecom provider, MTN and Dangote championed Africa’s showing in the ranking’s top 20, with MTN moving up a place from last year’s showing, while Nigeria’s telecom service brand, Glo moved up two places in 28th position in the year under review.
Meanwhile, in the sub-survey which focused on financial services, Guarantee Trust Bank led First Bank of Nigeria and regional bank, Ecobank who came in second and third positions, respectively.
 
According to Brand Africa, this year which marks its 10th anniversary saw data polled by Geopoll from 26 countries which account for over 80 percent of the continent’s population across five economic regions.
 
In his remarks, Thebe Ikalafeng, Brand Africa Chairman, who spoke during an online session said, “African brands have an important role in helping to build the image, competitiveness and transforming the continent’s promise into a real change.”
