Stakeholders to reposition Nigeria’s ports for AfCFTA

Stakeholders in the maritime industry will seek ways of collaborating to position Nigerian ports for better participation of the country in the African Continental Free Trade Area regime.

As they converge in Apapa, Lagos State, Nigeria, on October 28, 2021, for the maiden Port Industry Town Hall Meeting organised by JournalNG, the stakeholders will also push for efficient port industry.

The Publisher of JournalNG, Ismail Aniemu, said the meeting would be an assemblage of government agencies, regulatory bodies, service providers, terminal operators, shipping companies, freight forwarders, haulage operators and others.

According to him, the meeting will afford stakeholders a common platform to review port procedures and identify impediments to seamless and cost-effective cargo movement.

The event will feature paper presentations, panel discussion and workable communiqué tot guide policy makers and implementers towards efficient maritime operations.

Themed ‘Towards Hitch-free Port Operations in Nigeria’, the organisers said the summit would x-ray procedures, infrastructure and logistics for trade facilitation and ease of doing business in Nigeria from the port setting.
