Why women need to become financially independent

Sometime back, one of the major issues faced by the female gender was the denial of access to office work. They were totally discouraged from accepting job opportunities that presented themselves, all because of the notion that a woman’s place of total commitment is the home.

Today, there are changes due to digitalisation. Now, more women are daily getting basic education, which equips them with essential skills to join the available workforce and earn a living for themselves. In fact, the glass ceiling is threatened.

This new development has brought a lot of positive socio-economic changes in our various societies. This is because when a woman is allowed to explore her world and take up money-yielding responsibilities, she earns her own income, and is able to manage her financial state and financially support the people in her space at every point in time.

The need to be financially independent is a basic desire for humanity, irrespective of gender. But the concept of having a financially independent woman is, most often, rudely misinterpreted as worse luck. Hence, in today’s article, we would be sharing with you, basic reasons financial independence is essential for every woman.

Being financially independent gives the woman an undeniable sense of accomplishment, responsibility and further boosts their self-worth. Having her own money empowers her to take strong decisions in major areas of her life, as she has the ability to fund her daily activities.

More so, a financially independent woman has the tendency of becoming a role model to many women and other individuals. They will, through her, see the need to be financially independent and as such work hard towards becoming financially independent too.

Further, a financially independent woman contributes to the family needs, given that the cost of living is daily increasing, and one source of income might just not be enough to take care of the family bills.

Also, a financially independent woman stands as a shield to uphold the family, should the other party face financial issues.

Have you ever wondered what becomes of a family where the only source of income (the man) faces some financial crisis such as job loss? Apparently, they will have nothing to fall back on. But if the woman was given the opportunity to take up money-yielding jobs, even if anything goes wrong financially with the man, the family will still have something to live on until he finds his feet again.

In conclusion, women are great influencers, and as such should be given the space and opportunity to maximise their potential through participation or involvement in money-yielding ventures of their choice, to enable them to fully impact the space in which they find themselves.
