Obiano’s N1.5bn support, Anambra union commends

Recalling the former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano’s inclusive administration, the Anambra Development Union is celebrating his zeal for economic growth in the state.  

ADU, in celebrating the finance expert on his 67th birthday, highlighted over 60 commendable projects initiated and executed by Obiano. As well as the funds he disbursed to  help different businesses. 

According to ADU, Obiano distributed over N1.5bn to support Small and Medium-scale Enterprises with special focus on farmers, women and the youth. 

The group’s spokespersons, Alex Osaemeka and Chukwuka Udeokeke, noted that his administration was marked by commitment to business growth. His commitment included creating the Anambra Small Business Agency for development of micro investments and access to loans and grants.

The address reads, “His Excellency created the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency as a one-stop shop for investors. This attracted lots of investments to the state.

“He also established the Digital Entrepreneurship Office for the nurture and expansion of TechNovation and Digital Entrepreneurship. He also  launched the Youth Empowerment and the Creative Economy Council with a view to unlocking the creative potential of the Anambra youth in a manner that will address unemployment more decisively.”

Obiano’s administration was also recognised for ensuring a seamless payment of due allowances to the security agencies. Creating jobs from investments, agriculture, loans and other policies and programmes; launching the Akulue Uno Campaign. This led to new investments like Coscharis Farms, Anaku, Joseph Agro, Lynden farms and Delfarm/Songhai, and Stine Farms as well as the Stanel World and SABMiller Breweries. 

He served as Anambra’s governor from March 17, 2014 to March 17, 2022. Prior to his election into office, he worked with two different financial institutions – First Bank of Nigeria and Fidelity Bank.
