AOP drives women’s participation in Africa’s energy sector

As part of its commitment to encourage women to participate in Africa’s energy sector, Africa Oil and Power has appointed Yolisa Nyoka as its new Director of Programming.

The Managing Director of AOP, Renée Montez-Avin, stated that the firm continues to lead by example by proudly appointing women to senior management positions.

Nyoka was recently nominated for the 2021 African Women Industrialidation Award, which recognises women that made substantial contributions in their respective careers.

According to the MD, AOP is a signatory to the ‘Equal by 30’ global campaign, which targets equal pay, leadership and opportunities for women in the clean energy sector.

Prior to her appointment, Nyoka served as Conference Producer for London-based Clarion Events – with a focus on sub-Saharan African power, water and energy markets – as well as for Trade Conferences International, South Africa’s leading financial conferences and event organiser.

Some of her accomplishments was driving and building a network of women in energy in Kenya and Nigeria.

As AOP expands its portfolio of live and virtual events, products and partnerships across the continent and into new international markets, it is expected that Nyoka will produce a robust calendar of events in 2021.
