Arik Air has announced the temporary suspension of flights to all its West Coast destinations from Monday, March 23, 2020.

The management of the airline said it took the decision after a careful analysis of the novel coronavirus disease, which had been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.

The Nigerian airline operating mainly from Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja has its head office at MMIA in Ikeja, Lagos.

Chief Executive Officer of Arik Air, Roy Ilegbodu, said, “The safety and well-being of our personnel and valued customers are paramount at this critical time. We do not want to take chances, and this is why we have taken this decision.”

The airline apologised to customers whose travel plans might have been affected by the suspension and promised to mitigate the effect by ensuring prompt refund of tickets.
