NDLEA intercepts 1,387 cartons of tramadol at Onne Port

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it intercepted a container carrying 4,996,200 capsules of tramadol, weighing 2,498.2 kilogrammes at Onne Port, Rivers State.

The Director, Media & Advocacy, NDLEA, Femi Babafemi disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said the illicit drugs were loaded in a container marked MRKU 0764717, which had been on the agency’s watch list.

Babafemi said the agency seized the drugs concealed in 1,387 cartons on Tuesday, following a joint examination by NDLEA operatives and officers of Nigeria Customs Service. 

Meanwhile, 42-year-old Muntari Hamidu has been arrested in Nyibango, Adamawa State with 13 sacks of cannabis sativa weighing 166kg. 

This is just as 35-year-old Sani Musa was nabbed with16.1kg of skunk at Ngurore, also in the state. Both were arrested on Sunday, May 16.

“On the same day, a team of NDLEA operatives from Ondo State Command arrested one James Godspower with 36.5kg of cannabis sativa in Faloye area of Ondo State,” he said.

In his reaction, the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd), lauded the renewed synergy between NDLEA and sister  agencies in its operations.

He commended the officers and men of the Port Harcourt Port Command, as well as those of Adamawa and Ondo Commands for their resilience and commitment to work, while charging them to remain vigilant.
