Nigeria’s equities market rebounds by 0.17%

Nigerian equities market on Monday recovered from four consecutive sessions of extended losses to start the week bullish.

As a result, the All-Share Index rose by 0.17 per cent to 39,396.57 points, while the market capitalisation was upped by 0.17 per cent to close at N20.61tn.

At the close of trading, investors gained N33.99 as the market recorded 25 gainers and 14 losers amid renewed bullish sentiments.

The Year-to-Date loss of the ASI lowered to -2.17 per cent.

Share prices of Lafarge Africa, Ardova, AIICO Insurance, Access Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank rose by 7.66 per cent, 10 per cent, 3.45 per cent, 2.56 per cent and 0.16 per cent amid buy pressure.

Sectoral performance was bullish, as three of the five indices tracked closed in the green zone.

While the insurance, oil and gas and industrial indices advanced by 1.26 per cent, 101 per cent and 0.47 per cent, the banking and consumer goods fell by 0.03 per cent and 0.06 per cent.

Trading activity was weak as the total deals, volume and value of stocks traded fell.

Thus, at the close of the day’s trading, total volume of trade rose by 49.42 per cent to 297.26 million valued at N3.15bn in 4,655 deals.
