Rivers explains transport sector automation

Rivers State Government has said that its automation of the transportation sector will help to tackle insecurity and create jobs for the people.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Nyesom Wike on Information and Communication Technology, Asaro Ibifuro, disclosed this on Thursday at the pre-screening orientation programme for over 7,000 applicants vying for 500 slots in the ICT training.

Ibifuro explained that the digital registration and connection involved enumeration of all commercial vehicles and the operators.

He added that the aim was to generate code for all commercial vehicles in the state for safe tracing of any lost item in commercial vehicles, check insecurity and safety of passengers, as well as ensure comfort.

Affirming that the exercise would also capture taxi operators, the governor’s aide added that the ongoing automation for registration of business places would involve cataloguing of all businesses operating in the state.
