Stakeholders brainstorm on cybersecurity in Nigeria

Against the backdrop of rising cybercrime, stakeholders in the financial sector have concluded plans to brainstorm on cybersecurity.

A report by Risk Based Security revealed that a shocking 7.9bn records have been exposed by data breaches in the first nine months of 2019 alone. This figure is more than double (112 per cent) the number of records exposed in the same period in 2018.

According to the report, in one form or another, most organisations are going digital and this has presented businesses with new opportunities and challenges.

It urged organisations to rethink cyber-protection.

As a leader in knowledge content consolidation and capacity building, Financial Institutions Training Centre and Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System will host the biggest virtual cybersecurity conference in Nigeria, themed, ‘Combating Cybercrime: Strategies for Strengthening Emerging Markets,’ slated for this month.

The event will feature thought leaders from the financial services sector inclusive of banks, technology and fintech companies across sub-Saharan Africa.
