We signed agreement on use of recovered funds – AGF

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has said that prior to the repatriation of all the recovered assets, Nigeria and relevant nations signed memorandum of understanding as to what the monies will be used for.

He spoke on the backdrop of accusations that he had personally diverted looted funds being repartriated to the country since he took office.

Speaking through his media side, Dr Umar Gwandu, Malami denied allegation that N2bn was paid to his office from the recovered looted funds.

According to him, the government has been working within all the provisions of multi-national agreements from which the funds are retrieved.

The AGF also dared any person with any evidence of wrong doing on his part to come out with such evidence, as according to him he was not guilty of diverting looted funds for his use.

He added that all recovered assets can be traced to the Federal Government’s designated account at the Central Bank of Nigeria for all repartriated assets.
