WEMA Bank moves to support women’s businesses

To mark this year’s International Women’s Day, WEMA Bank Plc has revealed plans to support women in business.

The support, according to the Nigerian bank, will be to recognise and celebrate female staff and customers of the bank, as it will give out grants of N100,000 to businesses owned by three women at an event.

The event tagged ‘Generation Equality: Realising a Woman’s Right’ will witness interactive sessions focusing on collective individualism towards achieving gender equality, the bank stated.

Open to customers, especially members of the bank’s women-support community, all WEMA Bank branches in Nigeria will host the event.

The Head, Brand and Marketing, Funmilayo Falola, said, “The event will champion the cause that we are all responsible for our thoughts and actions.

“As a bank, we believe we can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight biases, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.”

Winners for the grant will be selected through the bank’s social media outlets.
