Why we immortalised Bello – NSC coop

The President of Nigerian Shippers’ Council Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Bashir Muhammad, has said the group decided to immortalise the former executive secretary of NSC because he is a game-changer.

At the service award to honour Bello in Lagos, Muhammad revealed that they immortalised Bello by renaming its housing project in Karu Local Council, Nasarawa State, after him.

He described him as an Iconic Game Changer in terms of Cooperative Reforms in the Council.

His words, “To us in the cooperative, Hassan Bello, has been a law-abiding, dedicated, committed member whose guidance brought positive changes to what we are witnessing in the cooperative.

“Due to his enormous contributions, we have immortalised our Jikoyi Landed Property in Karu, Nasarawa State, after him. From today, the property’s name is ‘Hassan Bello Estate.”

Muhammad, however, stated that Bello was not a financial burden but a required assest to the cooperative.

“His leaving will definately shrink the purse of the cooperative, but we have no option than to pay him his legitimate hard-earned savings,” he added.

The coop president also pointed out that Bello contributed by approving an office space for the cooperative to enhance transparency and safety of members’ hard-earned savings.

“Bello revolutionised the cooperative when it was on the verge of collapse. Indeed, we are grateful to the man of honour, prudence, and humane cooperator.

“No amount of money can be given to compensate such an icon than immortalising him,” he said.
