Canon backs Dubai Cares for children’s education

Canon is supporting United Arab Emirate-based global philanthropic organisation, Dubai Cares, in raising funds for children’s education in the Middle East and Africa.

The Food for Cause initiative is a campaign that will combine philanthropy and food for children in Uganda and Iraq, and Canon will be donating $1 to two Dubai Cares programmes – ‘Girls in crisis in Uganda’ and ‘Recovery and Resilience in Iraq’ – on behalf of everyone who submits one original ‘Food for Cause’ photo between April 21 and May 21.

The Corporate Communications and Marketing Services Director, Canon Middle East and Canon Central and North Africa, Mai Youssef, said, “The holy month of Ramadan is a very significant time of giving. We are proud to actively support Dubai Cares during this period and encourage our customers, fans and ambassadors to get involved and make their contribution.”

Photographers, 18 years old and above, living in Central and North Africa and Middle East region can participate in the campaign by submitting original pictures before midnight of May 21 to support education of young girls and boys affected by refugee crisis.

“We believe that together we can create a better world through education, collaboration and a shared vision,” said the Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares, Abdulla Ahmed Alshehhi.

For every picture submitted, Canon will donate $1 and will double the total amount received at the end of the campaign.

According to reports, More than 11,150 adolescents are benefiting from the work being done in the Girls in Crisis Campaign.

Dubai Cares Recovery and Resilience in Education programme is re-building schools in Baghdad and Mosul, and helping 14,400 children get access to education.
